Process monitoring is an approach for identifying how well running processes are performing with respect to performance measures and objectives. Artifact-driven process monitoring has been proposed as a specific technique to monitor business processes that are distributed among multiple stakeholders, each one controlling only a portion of the process. Artifact-driven process monitoring tracks the execution of tasks based on the changes in the conditions of the artifacts (physical or virtual objects) in the process. However, the monitoring information can be very detailed and difficult to relate to the process intents. In this paper, we propose an approach that uses goal models in combination with artifact-driven process monitoring to realize goal-oriented process monitoring.
