Food allergies represent a significant public health concern, primarily arising from immunological responses triggered by specific proteins in food. These reactions can lead to a spectrum of dermatological manifestations ranging from mild symptoms to severe anaphylactic incidents. The prevalence of food allergies has significantly increased over the last thirty years affecting more than 220 million individuals worldwide. This review explores the mechanisms underlying food-induced skin responses, encompassing both IgE- and non-IgE-mediated pathways. It also examines the role of various inflammatory mediators including histamine and discusses related conditions such as atopic dermatitis, urticaria, angioedema and eczema while emphasizing the challenges encountered in the diagnostic process. This study examines the current diagnostic strategies highlighting the integration of interdisciplinary methods in the management of food allergies. This study offers a detailed examination of management strategies for food allergies encompassing pharmacotherapy, microbiome therapies, food elimination diets, probiotics and innovative treatment methods. It accentuates the importance of personalized approaches for different age demographics and advocates for prevention and early intervention strategies to address the rising incidence of allergic reactions. In this regard, the integration of these methodologies into therapeutic practices may enhance patient outcomes and alleviate the impacts of dermatological disorders associated with food allergies. This highlights the importance of ongoing investigation and the application of data-driven approaches to ensure lasting health and wellness among diverse age demographics.
