摘要

In the previous chapter we discussed the dynamics of vehicle chains consisting of human-driven vehicles. Here, we focus on the control design when the longitudinal dynamicsLongitudinal dynamics of vehicles are automated. The controllers designed in this section can be applied to vehicles of different levels of automation, including but not restricted to highly automated or self-driving vehicles. Nevertheless, cruise controlCruise control and adaptive cruise controlAdaptive cruise control are currently available on many production vehicles, and core parts of those algorithms are similar to those discussed in this chapter.
