Evaluating the Wind Farm Potential in Kütahya-Simav Region: A Feasibility Analysis
摘要
This study investigates the potential for wind energy generation and optimal siting of wind power plants in the Simav district of Kütahya, Turkey. Utilizing 3 years of wind data, we perform a comprehensive wind statistics analysis to understand the region’s wind characteristics. WAsP, a wind forecasting program, provides a detailed assessment of wind speed and direction distributions by deriving the wind climate of the region. The optimal placement of wind turbines for different power capacities of wind farms has been determined. For this purpose, an optimization algorithm utilizing the Gaussian wake model has been implemented. The results indicate the most efficient turbine locations, maximizing energy production while minimizing wake effects. This study provides critical insights into the viability of wind power generation in Simav, contributing to the strategic planning of renewable energy infrastructure in the region.
