Adoption of Financial Innovation by Moroccan SMEs: Opportunities and Risks
摘要
The financial and health crises have made the world environment more uncertain. The COVID-19 pandemic led to a significant reduction in worldwide economic activity due to containment measures and restrictions. In order to deal with this crisis, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) had to reconsider their procedures and include new digital tools, which opened up new possibilities, encouraged teleworking, and reexamined their value. SMEs are particularly vulnerable in this environment as they often have limited resources to cope with disruptions. In this context, FinTech is emerging as a promising solution to improve the financial inclusion of Moroccan SMEs, such as crowdfunding, peer-to-peer (P2P) lending, blockchain, artificial intelligence, and FinTech, which offer faster and adapted to the needs of these enterprises. This study aims to investigate the contribution of digital finance to Moroccan SMEs. It takes stock of financial innovations in Moroccan SMEs and presents the opportunities and risks involved in adopting digital technologies in these companies.
