Artisanal Elderberry Jam: A Healthy and Sustainable Business
摘要
The elderberry, a tree native to Europe that produces white flowers and purple fruits, is abundant in Colombia, particularly in cold climates. However, deforestation has increased due to its use as an ornamental tree and livestock feed. This project aims to utilize elderberry fruits to develop an artisanal jam that provides a healthy food product rich in antioxidants and vitamins. The jam’s development process includes several stages: researching the nutritional and medicinal properties of elderberries, selecting high-quality berries, designing an artisanal production process, conducting pilot tests, optimizing production, and choosing eco-friendly packaging. Additionally, a marketing strategy will be implemented to educate consumers about elderberry benefits and promote a healthy lifestyle. This venture seeks not only to create an appealing, nutritious, and healthy product but also to contribute to elderberry conservation and encourage its reforestation. By doing so, it promotes a sustainable business model that benefits both the community and the environment.
