Naturopathic Therapeutics and Effects on the Extracellular Matrix
摘要
Naturopathic therapeutics can influence the extracellular matrix (ECM) at all levels of dysfunction. This chapter examines what is intrinsically valuable about each of these therapeutics and the way in which they influence ECM structure and function. This sets the stage for a more detailed discussion of how therapeutics can assist at each level of dysfunction. Naturopathic therapeutics have multiple effects on the body. There are plant extracts that contain molecules that bind to receptors in the body. Physical medicine methods can influence the flow of blood and lymph as well as the tonicity and tension of muscles and fascia. Many of the naturopathic therapies influence the biochemistry of the body, changing the activity of enzymes, the expression of genes, or the redox state of tissues. As a whole, these therapies are very useful for protecting and improving the extracellular matrix.
