This chapter details a case study of “Una Vida” as an example of how music evolves and improves the quality of life for those with AD. The book, Una Vida: A Fable of Music and the Mind, and the film adaptation, Of Mind and Music, explore the intersections between music, brain function, and aging, which illustrate the cognitive benefits of musical engagement. Una Vida portrays the daily neuroscientists’ work and challenges. Moreover, this chapter aims to contribute to the removal of the stigma around AD. The synergy between music and brain function offers a promising avenue for enhancing aging resilience. Music activates neuronal circuitry signals involving DNA variants, genomic loci, genetics, and evolution of human language and musicality. Through promoting neuroplasticity, cognitive function, and emotional well-being, music is a powerful, non-invasive tool for fostering brain health. By embracing musical activities, the potential for a harmonious and resilient aging process can be unlocked.
