This chapter presents aspects of the life of Françoise Gilot, a consummate and creative artist until the age of 101. She was a young artist in ceramics and watercolors in France when she became the muse of Pablo Picasso. 4The author met Françoise in 1989, when Francis Crick invited him to the Salk Institute of Biological Studies in La Jolla, California. Françoise was married to Jonas Salk at that time. The author’s relationship with Francis began in the 1970s, and shortly after, when he was forced to leave Argentina, that interaction continued. Her canvases continued to evolve in complexity and vibrancy, mirroring the richness of her experiences and illustrating her enduring creative spirit. Françoise also co-authored the book About Women with American novelist Lisa Alther, portraying a cheerful dialogue between two creative women. Thus, this chapter outlines how Françoise’s artistic imagination impacts successful resiliency and aging.
