In this chapter, an overview of the contributions of religious and worldview-based communities to the history and genesis of human rights is given. Religious and worldview-based communities have enriched the emergence and development of human rights with ideas and concepts (e.g., human dignity). At the same time, they have resisted human rights in certain areas, especially where human rights restricted themselves. When analyzing the contributions of religious and worldview-based communities for and against human rights, it is impossible to take a close look at all the contributions of religious or worldview-based origin for or against human rights. Only certain examples of support and resistance can be examined, which allows for schematic access to the work of religious and worldview-based communities.
