The interaction between copyright and competition law is an interdisciplinary and complex issue in law. Already in 1970, Hay and Oldekop wrote that the Court decisions on this matter “have been one of the most controversial topics of the EC law, perhaps even more so than its decisions on such fundamental issues as the direct effect of Community law within the legal system of the Member States or the supremacy of Community law over national law.”
