Petangan is Javanese logical wisdom that has been tested by time and space. As a cultural heritage, this tradition still has a strong influence on the lives of Javanese people. In the context of the Serat Kawruh Griya manuscript, petangan is a five-five subtraction calculation used to determine the length of a traditional Javanese house frame component. This research aims to complement Prijotomo’s research by examining a different manuscript, namely the Serat Kawruh Griya manuscript, with a focus on the disclosure of ideas, concepts and purposes of using petangan in the construction of Javanese houses in the Serat Kawruh Griya manuscript. By interpreting the petangan in the Serat Kawruh Griya manuscript, an enrichment of Javanese architectural knowledge is obtained, especially regarding measurement and proportion in architectural design. The results of Prijotomo’s research, measurement, and interpretation have revealed that there are no elements of belief, mysticism, or cliché. The system of calculations revealed in the Serat Kawruh Griya manuscript is worthy of being juxtaposed with the western proportions that are familiar to the author.
