The current situation is characterized by turbulence and uncertainty, which introduces significant challenges that affect the ability of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Mexican industrial sector to adapt and compete. This chapter analyzes how a centralized organizational structure in SMEs can result in decision-making concentration, lack of long-term vision, and a hostile work environment. These factors make it difficult for companies to respond promptly to sudden changes and align crucial resources and processes. This chapter discusses the importance of organizational models in mediating the relationship between Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and the broader economy. It uses the example of a medium-sized firm in the industrial equipment sales sector and emphasizes its contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and job creation. The chapter presents Beer’s Viable System Model as an alternative to improve organizational decision-making capacity and strategic implementation. By adopting this model, decision-makers can improve planning and control and foster organizational resilience by enabling a more agile and coordinated response to internal and external challenges. The proposed framework supports decision-makers in adopting an alternative perspective to enhance their organization’s performance.

摘要
