At De La Salle University-Manila, academic programs integrate service-learning (S-L) in their curriculum, mostly at the undergraduate level, but also in the PhD course on Philosophies, Models, and Theories in Research. The course had doctoral candidates engaging with a government-funded public high school situated in a poor community in Tondo, implementing community-based participatory research in collaboration with the teachers in the school. The S-L project employed mixed method participatory action research as the design, and a non-random sampling technique to select the forty-six (46) teacher participants. For the quantitative data, students employed descriptive statistics and used thematic analysis to analyze the qualitative data.
