Development trials of underwater missile is carried out on underwater platform keeping submarine as final launch platform. During development phase of underwater missile, maximum number of physical parameters related to missile, canister, launcher and container are acquired to be recorded. Missile parameters are acquired on-board missile and once missile is out of water, transmitted to control station, by delayed transmission technique. Launcher, canister and container parameters are acquired on-board platform on a data acquisition system. Data acquisition system is back-bone of any test and measurement setup, it is unimaginable to conduct a test without data acquisition system. Instrumentation measurement plan for underwater missile is much more complicated and involves detailed logistic planning compared to land based missile system. The objective of data acquisition system is to sample and store several analogue signals of various sensors located on underwater platform and display of few selected parameters in real-time at control station on command. Data acquisition system design restriction includes size, harsh environment, large data storage, interfaces and connectivity, power requirement, heat dissipation, remote booting, initiation and termination of data acquisition, system redundancy, fault tolerant features, data integrity, reliability and data downloading capability at high speed to control station, immediately after the test.
