Artificial Intelligence in Electric Vehicles for Sustainable Driving

The adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) has great potential to cut greenhouse gas emissions and lessen reliance on fossil fuels. However, an EV operator’s driving style significantly impacts both the vehicle’s energy consumption and environmental impact. One of the most important tactics for maximizing EV efficiency is eco-driving, which modifies acceleration, deceleration, speed, and other driving behaviors to reduce emissions and fuel consumption. Artificial intelligence (AI) plays a key role in enabling eco-driving by offering drivers knowledgeable direction, constructive criticism, and assistance. This chapter examines the advantages of eco-driving EVs and several AI-powered methods to improve eco-driving behaviors. These methods include traffic prediction, route planning, intelligent speed adaptation, adaptive cruise control, and more. This chapter also assesses how well various AI-based techniques work in terms of user acceptability, security, comfort, and energy efficiency. The practical consequences and problems of deploying AI-driven eco-driving solutions are clarified by analyzing user experiences and performance indicators. The conversation also touches on the difficulties and possible uses of AI in improving eco-driving for EVs. The chapter emphasizes the revolutionary role that AI can play in encouraging sustainable transportation behaviors and lowering the environmental impact of EVs by addressing obstacles and examining opportunities.
