Do not Stay Behind: Embracing Process Mining in the Italian Public Sector
摘要
The public sector urgently needs to digitalize its infrastructures and services to better satisfy citizens’ needs. Process Mining (PM) is a process-oriented tool that allows organizations to objectively and timely analyse their processes, resulting in improved process efficiency and higher organizational performances. Nevertheless, PM successful implementation depends on the acceptance and support of key stakeholders, including civil servants in the public sector context. This study is among the first attempts to adopt Information Systems acceptance models to quantitatively evaluate civil servants’ perceptions of PM prior to its adoption to understand its implementation viability. Through a survey conducted among Italian public organizations, we found that civil servants with basic theoretical and practical knowledge about PM show a positive attitude towards PM use, perceiving it as useful, easy to use and job-fitting.
