An Empirical Data Analysis Study on the Optimization Strategy of Content Tags in the Operation of RedNote

Since mid-January 2025, a large amount of content labelled as “TikTok Refugees” has exploded in a concentrated manner, making RedNote the focus of the world’s attention, and how the relationship between RedNote’s content labels and user behaviors is shaping up. This paper conducted an empirical analysis based on some operational data of RedNote’s beauty category to explore the impact of the number of tags, heat and the order of tag placement on the effect of content operation when content creators set tags for their content, i.e., to try to dig out the relationship between different tag-setting strategies and the adoption of information by the target audience that the operation expects to facilitate. The study shows that users’ adoption behaviour is relatively negative when too many hashtags are set, and that the heat of the first hashtag and the total heat of the hashtags are more critical to facilitate users’ adoption behaviour. The study reveals the importance of tagging strategy for content operation, and gives specific strategies to optimise tagging operation.
