In the era of rapid AI development, the application of Generative AI (GenAI) in psychological therapy and artifact-related industries has drawn much academic attention. The traditional bead-stringing industry, an important part of Chinese cultural heritage, faces a bottleneck. Lacking design innovation, it can’t meet the growing demand for personalized products. GenAI, with intelligent response and personalized customization features, offers new ways for users to create customized products. On Chinese social media, young people under work stress show great interest in prayer-related activities, and temple-praying bracelets are increasingly popular. This trend reflects their interest in traditional handicrafts and the pursuit of spiritual comfort. To study this social phenomenon, we used a qualitative research method. We interviewed 10 young people through semi-structured interviews and analyzed the data based on Donald Norman’s three-level emotional design theory. By exploring the visceral, behavioral, and reflective levels, we extract practical design strategies. In this study, we integrated the concept of chakras into bead-making. By replacing complex measurement methods with GenAI and adding traditional Chinese cultural elements, we developed a “All goes well” prototype design and themed workshop. This creative design uses GenAI to revitalize traditional bead design and provides young people with new artistic-therapeutic methods.
