Speech-based assistants, supported by AI and natural language processing, offer potential in palliative care by automating tasks like documentation and improving communication, especially for patients with limited verbal abilities. This study employs theoretical framework development to conceptualise the integration of these technologies into palliative care. Drawing on insights from AI, health communication and ethical considerations, it proposes a framework to enhance patient-healthcare provider interactions, address challenges such as data protection and personalisation, and improve patient well-being. By improving efficiency and communication, speech-based assistants could significantly enhance the quality of palliative care.
