Hand-tracking technology in virtual reality (VR) has the potential to offer more immersive interactions compared to traditional controllers. However, limitations such as the absence of haptic feedback and challenges in gesture recognition hinder its widespread adoption. This study aims to develop a VR framework that facilitates the implementation of hand-tracking input, particularly for fantastical interactions, within the Godot game engine. A demonstration application was developed to evaluate the framework’s usability, presence, and immersion. User experience was assessed through established questionnaires and user testing with the Meta Quest 2 head-mounted display. By seeking to improve the accessibility and effectiveness of hand-tracking interactions, this study aims to contribute to the development of more immersive and intuitive VR experiences.
