Scalable Solutions in Green Chemistry for Industrial Manufacturing
摘要
Green Chemistry is the utilization of a set of principles that reduces or eliminates the use of generation of hazardous substances in the design, manufacturing and application of chemical products. The industrial sector plays a critical role in driving economic development but often at the expense of environmental sustainability. Green chemistry offers innovative pathways to address these challenges, focusing on the design of chemical processes and products that minimize environmental impact. Scalable Solutions refers to approaches or strategies that can be expanded or adapted to increase impact without a corresponding increase in cost or resources. Hereby scalable solutions in green chemistry tailored for industrial manufacturing, emphasizing their potential for widespread adoption. An economic and ecological assessment that incorporates quantitative analysis, including life cycle assessments and cost–benefit analyses, provides a richly textured view of the pros and cons involved. Policy relevance, industry-academic partnerships, and international partnership also play an important role in enabling scalable solutions. This final chapter takes up future directions and opportunities for growth by exploring the integration of artificial intelligence, bioengineering, and synthetic biology into the green chemistry domain. It includes potential applications in emerging industries such as energy storage and water purification. By taking a look at technical and systemic barriers to scale, this chapter should provide a strategic framework for industrial-scale adoption of green chemistry in manufacturing to catalyse a step toward a more sustainable and resilient industrial future.
