摘要

A crop-livestock-based integrated farming method is used to raise a variety of livestock species in tropical regions where livestock is a significant part of the rural economy. Small-scale dispersed product (meat, milk, etc.) production is the distinguishing feature of Indian animal husbandry, which is evolving into a self-sufficient agricultural business. For many families, keeping cattle provides a significant amount of work and a constant source of income, allowing them to raise their level of living. The Indian livestock sector is known for its low productivity. A number of difficulties, including limited grazing supplies as a result of urbanization, industry, and cultivation in fallow areas, prevent realizing livestock production capacity. Traditional feeding management is another important factor. Numerous breakthroughs in animal nutrition research have increased feed’s nutritional value while also reducing feed resource waste. Research on the feeding methods that farmers have traditionally used and the feed resources that they have in their hands will be useful to fulfil the nutritional state of livestock as well as identify likely solutions for utilizing the animal’s full genetic potential to make livestock farming a profitable endeavour. It is very essential to better understand how farmers are using technology and managing the feeding of their livestock considering the socioeconomic variables as well as to propose recommendations for changing the existing feeding system.
