This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the evolution of logistics from its beginnings (Logistics 1.0) to the emerging Logistics 5.0. The evolution reflects the industrial revolutions, with innovative technologies and approaches used at each stage to meet changing market demands. AI characterizes Logistics 5.0 as a transformative technology with three key pillars: human-centricity, sustainability, and resilience. Humans are at the center of the development of systems that focus on the needs of people, whether they are customers or operators.
