The initial training of teachers requires innovative approaches that combine IT skills and digital tool awareness, fostering critical thinking about technological innovations. This study investigates the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the flipped learning model, emphasizing personalized learning and self-assessment. Conducted with 316 first-year students from the master’s degree course in Primary Education Sciences at the University of Palermo, the intervention used AI tools like ChatGPT to refine writing skills and enhance collaboration. A mixed-method approach revealed significant improvements in student competencies: 92% reported personalized learning benefits, and 93% noted increased collaboration. Results highlight the AI-flipped model’s effectiveness in improving academic skills, interpersonal relationships, and professional growth, offering a promising framework for modern teacher training and future research.
