Implementation of Technological Solutions to Improve the Natural Stone-Cutting Process
摘要
The manufacturing industry is undergoing a digital transformation due to the proliferation of new digital and ICT solutions that are applied throughout the production process chain. The stone sector follows in the same direction, as it is a sector in which mechanical machines do not have much further to evolve, but digital technology can bring enormous benefits to improve the quality of the product and the process, in addition to reducing costs and waste. This article presents the success of a use case developed in the ZDMP European project to contribute to a zero defects industrial stone process through the smart sensorisation of the process and identification of defects in the stone, presenting two technologies developed in the project and their results. The two technologies were tested in two different phases of stone cutting, the first in cutting the raw stones using advanced steel cables to cut the slabs and the second in cutting the stone slabs identifying the blade status, and warning when becomes wornout.
