Research on the Interaction Experience of Female-Oriented Games Based on Parasocial Relationship: A Case Study of “Tears of Themis”
摘要
In recent years, the number of players of female-oriented games targeting females has been growing rapidly in China. These players derive emotional experiences characterized by a strong sense of companionship through emotionally driven and gamified interaction designs. This study takes the game Tears of Themis as a case study. By conducting interviews with six players and performing a statistical analysis of user comments and feedback from the game’s official forum, this research explores, through the lens of parasocial relationship theory, how interaction design in such games creates positive emotional experiences tailored to female players’ needs. The findings show that the game’s interaction design not only facilitates engagement among players but also strengthens parasocial relationship between players and in-game characters. These interactions generate positive emotional experiences, which in turn provide valuable feedback to game developers. This feedback serves as a guide for further optimizing interaction design to better cater to the emotional needs of female players.
