This is part of an unfinished manuscript, written in Brazil during the last days of his life, in which François Dépelteau reflects on relations, care, finitude and humanity. Preceded by a short contextualisation written by Tatiana Landini, his widow, it expresses an invitation to move beyond our sociological horizon. It is not a rupture from the previous work but a metamorphosis. The status quo in ‘traditional’ sociology, which includes many critical or ‘radical’ theories, is not a long-term option: It badly needs some life to (re)connect to people. To overcome restrictions that are expressed in our sociological practices, which reduce sociological imagination, Dépelteau presents an approach theoretically fuelled by an alternative perspective: With the addition of love as a practice and type of relation, he looks for a sociology which is as warm as human social lives can be – a processual, relational, empirical and realistic sociology with love.

Relational Sociology … with Love

摘要
