This chapter describes and discusses: (1) biohythane as a new arising biofuel including its superior fuel characteristics and additional value, energy density, compatibility with the current infrastructure; (2) valorisation of biomass as feedstocks/substrates for biohythane production has been reviewed; (3) DF and AD processes for biohythane production from biomass; (4) microorganisms, engineered strains, metabolic pathway/route; (5) components of biohythane production system, including biohythane measurement instruments; (6) bioreactor types and classifications including mode of operation, medium, and bioenvironmental and operational conditions; (7) measurements, analytical methods, and kinetic modelling of biohythane; and (8) feasibility, technology maturity and environmental impact.
