The manufacturing industry is facing a rising demand of natural resources while being confronted with heightened global competition and increased pressure for sustainable products and production practices. In order to meet these diverse requirements, a transition from a linear to a circular economy is necessary. Within this new manufacturing paradigm, strategies such as Re-Assembly can be used to manufacture technologically upgraded products with significantly lower resource inputs and costs. However, also in Re-Assembly efficient production program planning is necessary to ensure economic viability. Methods used in linear production prove inadequate in Re-Assembly due to new influencing factors such as core conditions and availability. To address this, a reference process for production program planning in Re-Assembly is developed in this paper. Based on the linear production planning process, two literature researches were conducted to identify Re-Assembly-specific adaptions of the planning. The first literature review specifies necessary main tasks, while the second analyses planning modules and their input and output information. The identified tasks and modules are then used to create a new reference model for use in Re-Assembly.
