This work presents a novel type design for Indic script-based Hindi and Bengali languages, which are derived from the Brahmi Script and share some similarities in their structure and characters. Despite the increasing prevalence of dyslexia, there is a notable lack of research and literature addressing the unique challenges faced by dyslexic learners in the context of Indic scripts. Hence, this work also lays the groundwork in addressing the gap in the literature by exploring how typefaces can be optimized for the diverse needs of underrepresented languages, thereby proposing a set of guidelines for creating dyslexia-inclusive typefaces for Indian languages, particularly Hindi and Bengali, focusing on aspects unique to these scripts. A preliminary user evaluation of the fonts suggested improved accuracy, ease of reading, and overall preference over the standard fonts used.
