Study on the Influence of Different Layout Schemes of Clothing Patterns on Semantic Perception: Taking Yun Brocade Patterns as an Example

This study addresses the lack of modern elements in Yun Brocade pattern design and its limited audience, proposing a digital innovation approach for Yun Brocade patterns. Using subjective evaluation methods, this research explores how various layout schemes of newly designed patterns affect semantic perception and provides layout design recommendations. Unlike traditional approaches that manually adjust pattern layouts, this study employs shape grammar to design experimental samples and applies Semantic Differential (SD) and Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) to analyze pattern perception imagery. The study extracts principal factors and evaluates the semantic matching of design elements. Results indicate that the priority order of design elements affecting "delicate, full, and open" imagery is: proportion > composition > element. For the "dynamic, minimalist, figurative" factor, the priority order is: composition > element > proportion. Future innovations in Yun Brocade clothing pattern design should consider core design elements and perceptual preferences, providing a strong foundation for expanding the use of Yun Brocade patterns.
