Research on Digital Wallpaper Design for Health Intervention Based on the KANO-AHP Model

Purpose This study addresses the health challenges faced by modern adults and investigates the potential of digital health wallpapers in facilitating digital health interventions and promoting behavior change. By leveraging the frequent interaction between users and smartphone screens, digital wallpapers deliver health information through subconscious visual stimuli and dynamic feedback. Additionally, they enhance user engagement through gamified and personalized designs. Methods: A combined KANO-AHP approach was utilized, beginning with analyzing user needs. Through qualitative interviews and quantitative surveys, the study identified and categorized the must-be needs, one-dimensional needs, and attractive needs of health wallpapers. A hierarchical model of user needs was constructed, and these needs were ranked based on their weights to guide the design of digital health wallpapers. Results: A scientifically robust and objective framework of user needs was developed, leading to the formulation of five design strategies: integration of floral elements with step tracking, progressive dynamic design, diverse floral styles, customizable step goals, floral themes, and dark mode. Conclusion: The integrated application of the Kano-AHP model enables the precise identification of user needs and prioritization. This method provides actionable guidance for designing digital health wallpapers, enhancing the scientific rigor and efficiency of the design process. It offers practical insights for developing user-centered digital health wallpapers and related products.
