As Chap. 2 will have illustrated, this book operates from the premise that translation is generally a possible, positive and worthwhile undertaking. In that light, the present chapter will discuss a number of foundational pedagogical concepts and what current literature on translator education suggests in terms of feasible teaching approaches. This will highlight questions and issues that this book will address and feed into the programme design for the translation cultural items introduced in Chap. 5 .
