The purpose of the chapter is to introduce the reader to the workings of a relatively young, Western Balkan competition authority, and the challenges it faces towards becoming a fully EU-compatible National Competition Authority. As will be seen below, while the system is largely aligned with the EU system, there are some national peculiarities, particularly in the spheres of extraterritorial merger control and the still-existing prior notification/individual exemption regime.
