With the rapid global development of AI-Generated Content (AIGC) technology, its potential applications in digital creativity and design have attracted significant attention. AIGC leverages vast global datasets to generate high-quality visual content quickly, significantly enhancing design efficiency and expanding creative boundaries. However, effectively applying AIGC technology to intangible cultural heritage (ICH) design and dissemination remains a critical challenge. While globalized datasets provide greater possibilities, they also introduce the risk of “de-contextualization,” making it difficult to accurately capture the uniqueness and depth of specific cultures. This study uses the design and dissemination of Cantonese cuisine ICH as a case study to explore how AIGC can effectively convey the core essence of localized cultural heritage in a globalized context. It examines the integration of AIGC and narrative strategies to bridge global datasets and local cultural characteristics while fostering cross-cultural understanding. A mixed-methods approach combining workshops, in-depth interviews, and experimental comparisons was adopted. AIGC-based animation workshops explored how AIGC generates cultural narratives within global datasets. In-depth interviews revealed that narrative design is a key strategy for addressing the limitations of AIGC in cultural expression. Participants widely agreed that narrative strategies effectively enhance cultural detail representation and deepen audience engagement. Comparative experiments further demonstrated that narrative-driven AIGC animations outperform non-narrative ones in metrics such as cultural richness, transmission accuracy, emotional resonance, cultural identity, knowledge gain, and cross-cultural dissemination potential, though differences in memory retention and sharing willingness were not significant. By integrating qualitative and quantitative analysis, this study highlights the effectiveness of AIGC narrative strategies in disseminating Cantonese cuisine ICH, particularly in facilitating dialogue between global and local cultures. It provides empirical evidence for AIGC’s application in ICH design and offers new insights into digital narrative strategies for cross-cultural communication, promoting understanding and exchange across diverse cultures.

摘要
