Current Status and Trend Analysis of Fit Design: Based on Clothing, Products, and Wearable Categories

The This study conducts a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the current research status in the field of fit design to understand its current state and development trends. By searching the Web of Science core database, 168 relevant papers from 2000 to March 2024 were selected. Using scientific mapping tools such as Citespace and R Bibliometrix, the analysis focused on publication trends, journal sources, international cooperation networks, and keywords to outline the research overview and direction. The results indicate that China and the United States have conducted a significant amount of research with substantial impact. The publications are spread across a wide range of journals due to the broad scope of fit design. Research hotspots cover six main themes: classification models, mass customization, body, wireless communication, teleaudiology, and attitude. There is a discernible shift from focusing on user needs and satisfaction to product personalization and technological application. Differences exist in research methods and technological applications across the fields of clothing, products, and wearables. The clothing field emphasizes research on ergonomics and fabric performance, the product field focuses on user needs and human-computer interaction analysis, while wearable devices emphasize body data connectivity and comfort. Future research should further focus on user experience, integrating new technologies and materials to advance the development and application of fit design. This study provides a comprehensive understanding for researchers in the field of fit design and serves as a reference for future research and practice in clothing, products, and wearable categories.
