Reflections on the Transdisciplinary Approach
摘要
The primary motivation for pursuing an engaged research approach is to foster real-world impacts and support the transformation necessary to remove fossil fuels from our energy system. However, it is quite difficult to measure such impact. As a starting point, we found it useful to list all the ways in which we had contributed to the project. Over a series of internal discussions, we documented all the activities that the research team had participated in between 2017 and 2021, as well as the challenges encountered and learnings along the way. The chapter begins with this list of contributions to map the research impact, before summarising the key learnings that may guide others seeking to pursue such approaches, the various roles the researchers took are presented as elements of the ‘honest researcher’, and then it closes with some personal reflections from the two authors.
