Coffee, Overweight, and Obesity: Is There a Link?
摘要
Coffee is the most consumed beverage worldwide and it has been reported to potentially exert antioxidant, antiinflammatory, antiobesity, antidiabetic, and anticarcinogenic properties. The present chapter focuses on the available data, mainly from clinical trials, on the associations between coffee intake and the prevalence of overweight/obesity. The impact of drinking coffee on weight loss is also discussed. Furthermore, we comment on the effect of coffee consumption on the development and progression/outcomes of obesity-related diseases (i.e., metabolic syndrome and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease).
