Scents and Senses: Assessing the Environmental and Health Consideration of Scented Fragrance
摘要
The scented fragrance has become a universal part of our daily lives. The age-old usage of perfumes has grown substantially in recent years. These products contain various chemical constituents that have the potential even to alter the genes, yet it is misbelieved that these items are ideal for health. It has serious effects on the environment as it causes pollution from its emissions, which ultimately affects the biodiversity of our ecosystem. Not just its usage, but also the disposal of such products is even more harmful contaminating the water sources. Indeed, the natural human odor has been taken away by so-called personal care products by risking life. This review paper focuses on the various toxicological findings of scents concerning their impact on the environment and health, emphasizing the need for more standards and regulations for its manufacturing and consumption, and paving the way towards sustainable and eco-friendly methods to produce perfume.
