Recycled water may be utilised to alleviate the burden of preserving freshwater supplies. The complete extent of harnessing recycled water remains to be investigated in many regions across the globe. Furthermore, numerous national and international organisations have implemented diverse regulations for reclaimed water based on its intended use. This article describes the sources, treatment technologies, reuse and potential problems related to the environment and public health. The adoption of an integrated strategy to planning and managing water resources is crucial for the establishment of widespread and efficient recovered water reuse.
