Climate scenarios are plausible representations of Earth’s future climate. They are based on quantitative studies on the possible socio-economic and environmental evolutions that yield a limited series of evolutionary lines of greenhouse gas emissions. Climate scenarios have evolved over time and are currently based on a series of representative trajectories of emissions and concentrations of greenhouse gases, as well as socio-economic scenarios linked to the geopolitical context.
