This chapter presents the rock art detailing the distribution and categorization of pictographs along a 266-m trail located at Serra da Lua and Serra do Sol on Ererê hill. Serra da Lua features clusters of motifs, while Serra do Sol houses discrete panels separated by vegetation. Analysis identifies 283 pictographs across different panels, spanning themes such as anthropomorphs, zoomorphs, concentric circles—some rayed, handprints, spirals, and other geometric figures. Notably, Serra da Lua encompasses a longer path of art compared to other sites, allowing for detailed theme subdivisions. There are also various intentionally created or altered orifices (holes) on sheer vertical surfaces. The findings suggest potential significance in the artwork beyond mere decoration, highlighting its role as a marker of tracking the sun, among other landscape and ecological identifiers.
