Jinan shadow puppetry is a branch of Chinese shadow puppetry. Its melody integrates the characteristics of many local opera cultures, and its pronunciation and singing are very characteristic of Jinan dialect. Its shadow figure shape is large, the line carving rough. In 2008, it was included in the list of representative projects of national intangible cultural heritage. However, with the rapid development of urbanization and short video, Jinan shadow puppetry gradually faded out of the public’s vision. With the development of digital technology, digital interaction design plays an increasingly important role in various fields. This study aims to explore the integration path of digital interaction design and the communication mode of Jinan shadow play by analyzing the evolution of the artistic characteristics of Jinan shadow play and the problems existing in the communication, and propose how to use digital interaction design. By means of virtual reality technology, augmented reality technology, interactive projection and other means, this paper analyzes the innovative value of Jinan shadow play’s communication mode and Jinan shadow play art itself, solves its difficulties in contemporary communication, and promotes the innovative inheritance of intangible cultural heritage. Through digital interaction design, Jinan shadow Play breaks through the physical restrictions of traditional performances, enhances audience experience by using two-way interaction characteristics, transforms intangible cultural heritage from one-way transmission to immersive participation, and enables Jinan shadow Play to realize value transformation and sustainable development in the digital era, attracting the attention of young groups.
