This study proposes a wearable device for young women suffering from bipolar disorder (BD), with the objective of managing stress and alleviating musculoskeletal pain associated with psychological distress. Utilizing a user-centered design (UCD) approach, the research team conducted a comprehensive review of the existing literature, administered questionnaires, and conducted observational studies, with the aim of identifying the user needs. The proposed neckband product design, in conjunction with a mobile application, employs heart rate variability (HRV) monitoring to assess stress levels and electromyography (EMG) to detect pain, providing users with relaxation reminders and medication management. Ergonomically and aesthetically designed, the device aims to address stigma and enhance treatment adherence, with preliminary user feedback indicating levels of comfort and appeal. Further testing is recommended to refine its usability.
