摘要

Following Cristiano Antonelli’s pioneering thesis (The new economics of the university: a knowledge governance approach, 2018) and using the ideas of Safavi and Hakanson (Knowledge Governance in Universities: A Case Study of a University Merger, 2013), this chapter emphasizes the critical role of knowledge governance in the evolution of future universities. The concept of future universities itself is very close to Assenza, Gregor, and Hampson’s Education in the 21st century – towards a “University of the Future”, 2013) with a strong emphasis on the vision of creativity-active and cognition-enriched environments of a modern university intended for education of professionals capable of producing knowledge and integrating into life of the society (as formulated by Alexander Karpov’s Universities In The Knowledge Society: Models Of Generative Learning Environment, 2019). This chapter introduces knowledge governance as an emerging field crucial for the holistic development, management, and dissemination of knowledge within higher education, based on the author’s original typology formulated in the 2012 essay Transcending knowledge management, shaping knowledge governance. The chapter calls for systemic approach examining knowledge governance from global to individual levels, and stresses the need for universities to adopt strategic visions of knowledge that align with future educational and societal needs. This analysis sets the groundwork for understanding how future universities can effectively navigate and contribute to the complex landscape of global education.
