Combatting the Social Cankerworm of “Tribalism” in Africa: Causes, Consequences and How, with a Gambian Case Study

Ethnic conflict has become a common part of social and political relations in Africa and beyond, resulting in bloodshed, disruption of economic progress and many other negative consequences. This chapter carries out a detailed study of ethnic conflict in Africa because of tribalism and offers recommendations in dealing with it. It includes a statistical case study of public opinion in the Gambia.
