In this chapter, the use of eco-physiological and anatomical traits of plants for ecological restoration and reclamation of degraded lands in tropical regions is demonstrated. We have mentioned several examples of plants native to Indonesia which can be used to inform land restoration and reclamation in the country. The plants presented in this chapter only resemble a very small portion of large number of Indonesian flora, let alone tropical forests globally which is estimated to contain 40,000–50,000 tree species. Therefore, future efforts are directed to extensively reveal the eco-physiological and anatomical traits of article, various plant species especially trees for ecological restoration. While such assessment will add useful knowledge in restoration ecology, there are several challenges and considerations which might exist as elaborated here.
