Influence of Cropping System on Soil Properties
摘要
Soil is a very precious resource and a very complicated ecosystem. Deplorably a variety of invasive anthropogenic activities in intensive agriculture have rapidly degraded soil globally and continue to do so, with antagonist effect for ecosystem and human health. This raises concerns because, soil is a non-renewable resource with in a human time frame. Due to vanishing of agricultural land brought about by urbanization, there is currently a need to grow more crops in limited space. Thus, soil fertility is progressively declined. Maintaining soil fertility has become a significant challenge in today’s world. Different management techniques are employed nowadays to preserve soil fertility. This review aids in comprehending how cropping systems preserve soil fertility and enhance crop yield. Soil quality needs to be preserved and enriched in continuous cropping systems in order to support agricultural productivity and environmental conservation for future generation.
