Soil is a critical natural resource that is essential for the regulation of climate, ecosystem services, and agriculture. Soil erosion and desertification may come from practices like intensive agriculture and urbanization. As a result, the land’s productivity and capacity to store carbon are decreased. Desertification and soil deterioration can result from excessive grazing, monoculture and inappropriate irrigation. These practices leads to desertification and exacerbated endangering livelihoods and food security. In addition to highlighting important issues such soil erosion, nitrogen depletion, and sealing, the article investigates solutions through conservation agriculture, sustainable land management, and legislative measures.
